Quote:"It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done."
Name: Sydney Carton
Alias: The Jackal, as he is referred to sometimes.
Age: 25
Film/Show/Game/Book/Comic: A Tale of Two Cities
Species: Human
Height: 5'9
Weight: 140lbs
Basic Appearance: Carton wears his brown hair in a neatly tied back ponytail, as was custom for men of his time. He also wears tailored black pants, and black shoes. Carton sports a white undress shirt under his slightly tattered ecru overcoat. Around his neck, he wears a bright red cravat.
Picture:
Personality: arton is a brilliant man, but unfortunately lets others take advantage of him before he himself can get the credit(as was seen with Stryver, the lawyer he worked under). He is seen to be a somewhat serious and melancholy man, who tends to be a "big-picture" thinker. However, he is also seen as an unlikely hero, who would rather save another man's life before thinking of his own self-interest (as was the case with Charles Darnay)
After becoming sober, and after he was saved from the guillotine, he has now reevaluated his life, trying to give himself one more chance at it.
Enemies: None at the moment.
Allies: None at the moment.
Family: Unknown
Role: He is a simple civilian lawyer.
History: Sydney Carton is from London, England. He used to work under the stupidest man in all of London: "C.J." Stryver, or Mr. Stryver. Sydney was able to use his special ability of solving cases to bring the lawyer to prominence in London, while Stryver took all the credit for Sydney's work. Carton eventually came into contact with Lucie Manette, whom he fell in love with, and Charles Darnay, the French immigrant he acquitted at a trial in England. (and both share the same spitting-image of the other)
When Darnay was brought to France under the title "Evrémonde", due to his family past, Carton headed straight to Paris in a dangerous attempt, for the French Revolution was just beginning.
Carton switched places with Darnay, so that he and Lucie could live their married life in London, while Carton himself went to the guillotine, believing that he had nothing left to live for.
""It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known."
Little did he know that a certain gypsy had been lurking around the riot-ridden city, bored as could be. One moment, Carton was in front of the guillotine; the next, he could feel wind hitting his face, and the crowd's surprised gasp. The poor man believed he was dead, until someone told him to open his eyes. And that was none other than the gypsy king of Paris: Clopin Trouillefou. There was no particular reason as to why Clopin had rescued Carton, other than the fact that the "king" was bored, and wanted to cause more uproar.
As the gypsy king left to cause more havoc, Carton stumbled across an unusual amulet. He picked it up, assuming that it belonged to the strange man who had saved him. Little did he know...
Sample Post
There was a rather large flash of bright light, and in a matter of seconds, it was gone, replaced by a bustling town.
"Where...what is this place?" Carton quietly mumbled to himself, as he stood up from the ground. He looked back to the amulet in his hands, and then back to the the entirely new place in front of him.
The poor man was utterly confused, as he had never experienced something like this. All in one day, he had managed to (almost) get himself killed, as an ultimate act of sacrifice for his dear Lucie and her husband, and the next moment, he was up in the air with some strange man on a rope. And now town?
This was simply too much for him.
