Basic Appearance: As a normal boy, Sunao was already abnormal. With his feminine face, pink optics and hair, he stood out. His hair was normally kept in a long ponytail or braid, though his crown had been cut short. Now though, he has been mutated to fit the circus' theme. A 'muzzle', a cage-like gag, is used to garble any attempts to speak with the audience. Sunao is forced to wear this garment whenever he is put out for showing.
Mutations: Metal nails have been surgically attached to Sunao's fingers, extending them into claws. Skin grafts have attached patches of pink 'fur' to Sunao's body, notably on his cheeks, neck, and arms. A tail has been similarly grafted, though it hangs loose and appears ratty when not taken care of correctly. Sunao's feet have been surgically 'enhanced' as well - muscles have been moved and removed to force Sunao to walk only on his toes, thereby creating a more animalistic gait.

Personality: Sunao is a bit of a smart-aleck naturally and loves to get under people's skin. With the pain and humiliation of becoming a monster though, Nao has developed into a depressed Deadpan Snarker, making snide comments about his and other's fate without moving to stop it. He is rather selfish, and refuses to put himself at risk for other cast members, even going so far as to turn blame on others or tempt audience members into joining the circus to save what remains of his own skin.
If someone went through the effort of cracking Nao's shell however... He can be stupidly loyal. And rather girly to boot, but you didn't hear that from me.
Sunao also has an alter ego, Ran, who only appears when Sunao is at his wit's end with fear or is drowning (his worst fear). Ran is basically a much ruder, much girlier Sunao.
Don't call Nao a girl if you value your body parts

History:
Sunao never knew his parents but grew up in a lab, the lab rat of a half-dozen scientists who, using less than humane methods, sought to manufacture alter egos in children that they could command and groom into soldiers. Sunao eventually broke free of this prison along with his friend, Sora Hashiba. They ran off together to live under the radar of lawful authorities, as their existence had never been registered... Making them the perfect prey for the Dark Woods Circus.
Sunao made the fatal mistake of becoming separated from his protector, and alone in the circus, he was quickly snatched up for a new attraction.

"Kuu-chan, look- look!" Sunao tugged at the older boy's hand, pointing at some oddity too twisted and deformed for recognition. Sora drew back, sticking his tongue out in disgust. "Gosh Nao, what is it with you and this stuff? It's disgusting!" Nao's eyes sparked with pink mischief. "I like seeing things weirder than us. It makes me feel normal - makes your ugly mug look normal!"
With a huff, Sora dropped Sunao's hand, smacking it away. "I'm going to find a popcorn stand." He grumbled. "Go ahead and keep looking at your fellow weirdos."
Sunao smirked and turned back to the cage and the growling creature inside, crossing his arms behind him. It was too fun to get under his friend's skin, but he'd get over it the minute he found himself something to fill his mouth with.
"What do we have here?" It took Sunao a second to realize that the question was directed at him, and he looked over his shoulder to see a strange woman in red, lipstick-stained mouth turned up in a smirk.
